Trojpodlažní mezonet se nachází v bytovém domě klasické žižkovské zástavby. Vznikl propojením bytu v nejvyšším podlaží a navazujícího půdního prostoru. Přáním klienta bylo lépe využít potenciál bytu pro potřeby rodiny a s ohledem na exkluzivní polohu bytu také interiér propojit s atraktivními výhledy na město.
Ve vstupním podlaží je obytný prostor pro společně trávený čas. Okna kuchyně s jídelnou směřují do ulice, posezení do dvora. Mezonetové patro se dvěma pokoji a zázemím je určeno výhradně pro děti. Galerie v podstřeší je řešena jako hlavní ložnice s koupelnou, malou kuchyňkou a šatnou. Ložnici dominuje velkoplošné okno, které propojuje místnost s venkovní pobytovou terasou a nabízí úžasný pohled na panorama města s Pražským hradem. Hlavní inspirací pro návrh interiérů bytu se stala klientova obliba současného českého umění, sběratelství a jeho patrná cestovatelská duše. Artefakty, umělecké předměty a sběratelské kousky jej stále obklopují a sdílejí s ním jeho životní prostor.
Dalším důležitým záměrem architektonického řešení bylo plynulé propojení bytu napříč všemi úrovněmi. Původně byl byt užíván pouze v prvních dvou podlažích. Podstřeší sloužilo pro úklidové prostředky a skladování. Díky expanzi dispozice do třetí „etáže“ se nosným prvkem návrhu rekonstrukce stalo nové kovové schodiště. Jeho konstrukce je kombinací nosného jeklového rámu vystavěného pomocí výpalků do oblouku, plechových stupnic a pláště. Schody se vinou kolem vertikálního tubusu, který spojuje všechny tři pobytové úrovně. Tubus vyplňuje prostor schodišťového zrcadla. Je opláštěný perforovaným plechem. Tento plechový svitek je rozvinut odspodu nahoru a přechází střídavě ze stěn na tubus ve spodním podlaží a z tubusu na stěnu nahoře na galerii. Praktickým využitím tubusu je funkce shozu na prádlo.
Podlaha je navržena jako dřevěná, dubová. Koresponduje s dýhovaným a lakovaným nábytkem. Dveře jsou bezrámové, bílé nebo dýhované tak, aby v interiéru splynuly s okolím. Obklady a dlažby jsou zvoleny v zemitých tónech šedé a černé, koupelna dětí je pojata ve veselejší modré a růžové. Schodišti vévodí ultramarínová modrá. Variace v použití perforovaného plechu se přiměřeně objevuje i v dalších zákoutích bytu (nástěnka, kryt topení apod.). Se stěnami a povrchy kontrastují měděné zařizovací prvky, které mají ladit se „suvenýry“ dovezenými z cest. Světelný design je řešen systémem chytrého osvětlení. Atmosféru bytu lze upravovat nastavením světelných scén dle potřeb, nálady a momentálního rozpoložení.

Apartment with a view
The three-story maisonette is located in a residential building of the classic Žižkov urban structure. It was created by connecting the apartment on the top floor and the adjacent attic space. The client’s wish was to better utilize the potential of the apartment for the current needs of the family, especially considering the exclusive location of the apartment with attractive views of the city.
The entrance floor offers the main living space for spending time together. The kitchen with a dining area faces the street, while the seating area faces the courtyard. The maisonette floor is exclusively for children, divided into two rooms and facilities. The attic gallery is designed as the main bedroom with a bathroom, small kitchen and dressing room. The bedroom is dominated by a large window that connects the room to an outdoor living terrace, offering an amazing view of the city skyline with Prague Castle.
The main inspiration for the design was the client’s love for contemporary Czech art, collecting, and their apparent adventurous spirit. Artifacts, art objects, and collector’s items still surround them, sharing their living space.
One of the main themes of the architectural design was the seamless integration of the apartment across all levels. Originally, the apartment was only used on the first two floors, with the attic serving as storage and space for cleaning supplies. Expanding the layout to the third „level“ resulted, among other things, in the new metal staircase becoming the main structural element of the reconstruction design. The staircase’s structure is conceived as a combination of a load-bearing steel frame built using arch trusses, metal treads, and a shell. The stairs wind around a vertical tube that connects all three living levels. The tube fills the space of the staircase enclosure and is clad in perforated sheet metal. This metal coil is unfolded from bottom to top and alternates from the walls to the tube on the lower floor and from the tube to the wall on the gallery above. The practical use of the tube is for laundry chute purposes.
The floor is designed as oak wood, corresponding to veneered and lacquered furniture. The doors are frameless, either white or veneered, to blend with the surroundings in the interior. Wall coverings and tiles are in earthy tones of gray and black, while the children’s bathroom is in cheerful blue and pink. The staircase is dominated by ultramarine blue. Variations in the use of perforated sheet metal are appropriately present in other corners of the apartment (notice board, heating cover, etc.). Copper fittings contrast with the walls and surfaces, intended to harmonize with the „souvenirs“ brought back from travels. The lighting design is implemented through a smart lighting system. The apartment’s atmosphere can be adjusted by setting lighting scenes according to needs, mood, and current disposition.
